RATIONALE

As a part of Indo-Sino collaboration in Science & Technology, the Department of Science & Technology (DST), India, and the Ministry of Science & Technology (MOST), China have identified Astronomy & Astrophysics as an area of collaboration. A workshop is organized at Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore, to identify areas of cooperation, collaborating institutes, and draw a road map including mode and mechanisms for future collaboration in this area between the two countries.

A Chinese delegation from National Astronomical Observatories China (NAOC), Yunnan Observatories (YNAO), Nanjing Institute of Astronomical Optics and Technology (NIAOT) will be participating in the Workshop. They have expressed interest in discussing collaboration with ground-based optical and radio astronomy facilities and projects (TMT, LAMOST, FAST, CSRH, NVST, Yunnan 2.4 m telescope, numerical computing and site survey at high altitudes).

Participation in the workshop is by invitation.
