Please check ASK AN ASTRONOMER section of Indian Institute of Astrophysics website for the answers regarding first two questions. We do not have any telescopes at Bangalore unit however, Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium is quite active in this area and there is an amateur astronomer's group in Bangalore.   Top

GMRT is the largest radio telescope in its class (meter wave). Vainu Bappu Telescope is the largest in Asia with a diameter of 2.3m. Also note that the Indian Astronomical Observatory (IAO) at Hanle is the highest observatory for Infrared studies in the world.   Top
