The year 2009 marks the four hundredth anniversary of the first astronomical Observation through a telescope by the great Italian scientist Galileo Galilei and has been declared as the International Year of Astronomy. As a part of IIA's public outreach program a simple low cost optical telescope has been developed and manufactured by IIA on this occasion. Details of the telescope are available in the Instruction Manual.

Institutions and individuals may own this telescope on a nominal cost of Rs. 3000/- plus Rs. 450/- towards shipping charges within India. The supplies of the telescope is limited. The order will be entertained on first come first serve basis.

The telescope may be collected personally from IIA's Bangalore campus by an authorised person or be shipped.
