OBJECTIVE

There exists a substantial focus in India today on Experimental High Energy Astrophysics. Several experiments in astronomy and astrophysics have been conducted over the last several decades; more importantly, several more are proposed and under construction, or newly built, such as the two gamma ray astronomy experiments HAGAR and MACE and the India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO)experiments.

This year, in view of the upcoming and proposed experiments, the focus will be on gamma ray astronomy and neutrinos. Selected topics will give good foundation to understand and appreciate both the experiments and the problems in the field. About 50 one hr sessions spread over 10 days, from Dec 1 – 11, 2009, are envisaged, to be held at the Kodaikanal campus of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Beginning graduate students and bright masters’ students from various Universities, colleges and institutes.
