Rajaguru's Home Page

Welcome, I am Paul Rajaguru. You are visiting my web-pages at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics , where I hold the position of Reader. My research work involves experimental and theoretical studies of the dynamics of solar as well as stellar near-surface magnetic field. The experimental part of my research involves application of two local helioseismic techniques, namely the time-distance and ring diagram analyses, to study the solar active regions dominated by sunspot magnetic fields using data from the Solar Oscillations Investigation / Michelson Doppler Imager (SOI/MDI) on board the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO). The theoretical part involves studying the structure and dynamics of small magnetic flux tubes, sunspots and starspots on the solar and stellar photospheres.

My Ph.D. thesis, completed in 1999, was on Radiative Transfer and the Dynamics of Small-scale Magnetic Structures on the Sun at the Physics department of the Indian Institute of Science under the Joint Astronomy Programme .
