Stellar astronomy :
Stellar astronomy at IIA ranges from the study of the birth sites of stars to the final stages or death of stars. The areas of specialization are:

  • Galactic Starforming Regions
  • Young Stellar Objects and Substellar objects
  • Peculiar and variable stars
  • Stellar atmospheres - chemical abundances of late type stars
  • Transient objects - novae, supernovae, gamma-ray burst sources
  • Chemodynamics and structure of the Galaxy
