International Archives Week 2019 at IIA

On the occasion of the International Archives Week 2019, the Library team and Archives Committee joins the campaign initiated by the International Council on Archives (ICA) on 3rd and 4th of June 2019 at the Institute. During the event, selected experts will deliver a series of lectures on aspects of scientific work, history of science in India with a focus on our collection. We would exhibit pictography, filmography, tour of our archives and thematic posters, besides opening of our new archives website. The main objective of this exhibition is to create awareness among scientists, historians of science and librarians in the country, of the rich archival material available at IIA. The targeted themes may include:

  • M. K. Vainu Bappu
  • S. Chandrasekhar

  • Past Directors
  • 2019 Theme: Designing the Archives of the 21st century
  • The great trigonometric survey

The invited experts will be those who have published articles or books in archival science or in history of science (such as the members of our archives committee and some former members of IIA). There will be space for contributed talks/posters.
