- Multi-wavelength study of hot stellar population in Galactic globular clusters
- Research Interest
My work is primarily on the ultraviolet-bright stars in the old stellar systems of our Galaxy, the globular clusters. These exist in various evolutionary phases, including the horizontal branch (core-Helium burning), post-horizontal branch, white dwarf, and non-canonical phases like the blue straggler, etc. The main goal is to undertake the census and characterization of ultraviolet-bright stars with the following aims:
1. Understanding the rapidly progressing late stages of stellar evolution.
2. Shedding light on the formation and evolution of non-canonical stars
3. Tracing multiple stellar populations in globular clusters, especially in the context of helium enhancement.
4. Understanding the interplay between stellar dynamics and stellar evolution. To achieve these goals, I utilize the ultraviolet observations of globular clusters from AstroSat/UVIT complemented by datasets from HST, Gaia, and ground-based optical photometric catalogs.
My other interests include: Stellar Dynamics, Single/Binary Stellar Evolution, Variable stars etc.
