Arrival

Please note that if you have been individually informed about transport schedules, that information supersedes the information given here.

Participants should plan to arrive at the IIA campus by noon on the 8th July08.

A. For those participants who will arrive in Bangalore from out of town, and who have communicated the train/flight number, scheduled arrival time and location to us at astrostat@iiap.res.in, pick-ups will be arranged by IIA from the following points:

*Bangalore City station
*Bangalore Cantonment Station
*Yashvantpur Station
*Bangalore Airport

In the case of the train stations, the vehicle will be waiting in the parking lot of the station, with the " Astrostatistics IIA" sign on its windshield. At the airport, the driver will be at the exit of the departure area, holding "Astrostatistics IIA" sign. Look for this sign and identify yourself to the driver. Please email your cellphone number if any to astrostat@iiap.res.in if you have not already done so.
In case of any difficulty, the IIA Travel Section staff, K. Shankar, can be reached on his cell phone at 9448324164.

Since the new Bangalore airport is rather far-off from the city, we will attempt to combine passengers who arrive within small intervals of each other. This may entail a wait of upto an hour between your arrival and your departure from the airport. Please bear with us regarding this. Please feel free to call Shankar if you do not find a person with the "Astrostatistics IIA" placard.

A vehicle will transport participants from the IIA campus to the observatory some time during the day on the 8th of July. Breakfast and/or lunch will be available at the IIA campus before departure to the observatory.

B. Participants who plan to arrive at Jolarpettai railway station will be picked up by a vehicle from the Vainu Bappu Observatory and transported to the Observatory. The vehicle will await your arrival at the exit to the station. Please email your cellphone number if any to astrostat@iiap.res.in if you have not already done so. In case of difficulty, the VBO Observatory-In-Charge, Anbazhagan P. can be reached on the cell phone 9787462052.

C. Participants of the school who are stationed at Bangalore must report to the IIA campus at Koramangala on the 8th July07. Please see our website for directions, and send us your cellphone number if any. There will be a pick-up from the Indian Institute of Science Main Library at 07:00hrs and from the Raman Research Institute main gate at 07:15hrs, estimated to reach the main IIA campus at about 08:00hrs. Please let us know if you can make it to one of these two pick-up points, or alternatively, what is the earliest that you can reach IIA, and we will accordingly schedule your departure to VBO and let you know.

Vehicles will ply about thrice on the 8th July07 from the IIA campus to the observatory. Breakfast and/or lunch will be available at the IIA campus before departure to the observatory.
