Workshop of HCT Users
Indian Institute
of Astrophysics
Bangalore
21-22 January
2006
The Himalayan Chandra Telescope (HCT), Hanle, will complete three successful years of operation in April 2006. During this period, 9 cycles of time allocation have taken place through a national time allocation committee. Several exciting results have been published during this period, and many more papers are in various stages of publication. A workshop of HCT users is planned at this juncture to take stock of the research already conducted, and its impact in key areas of astronomy and astrophysics.
Specific presentations are planned during the workshop in areas where significant contributions are already made, and on long-term programmes initiated that are expected to result in significant international impact. There will also be considerable time devoted to general discussion that will include the measures to maximize the scientific impact of HCT, and the future augmentation desired at the Indian Astronomical Observatory, Hanle.
