Abstract * : A set of 115 DH type II and type III bursts and their associated solar sources such as solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) from 1997 to 2014 is analysed. Based on the duration of the associated solar flares, the events are classified as: impulsive flares (duration < 60 min) and gradual flares (duration > 60 min). The peak flux and integrated flux of impulsive flares are found to be stronger than that of gradual flares. Also, it is found that impulsive flare-associated CMEs are highly decelerated with larger initial acceleration and they achieved their peak speed at lower heights than the gradual flare-associated CMEs, even though both sets of events have similar sky-plane speed (space speed) within LASCO field of view. Most of the properties (peak intensity, integrated intensity and starting frequency) of DH type II bursts observed by Wind/WAVES are found to be similar in magnitudes for impulsive and gradual flare events. However, impulsive flare-associated DH type III bursts are longer, stronger and faster than the gradual flare- associated DH type III bursts.
