Abstract * : We perform multi-spectral study of coronal plumes found in coronal holes (CHs) and quiet-Sun (QS) regions using IRIS raster data for Si IV ( 1402.7 A) and Mg II k (2796.4 A) lines. We also study magnetic field at the footpoints of such regions dominated by concentrated magnetic flux of 200-600 G required to drive plumes in 171 A filter images of SDO/AIA. We then compare different properties of plume regions with non-plume regions, which are also dominated by magnetic field in this range but don’t show intensity enhancements in 171 A. The lower intensity in Si IV for non-plume regions than plume regions shows that the longer and hotter jetlets at the base of plumes might be driving the plasma outflows in the plumes. We explore the association of jetlets to be the driving mechanisms for the plume regions in addition to the critical magnetic field required to drive the plume formation.
