Abstract * : Solar Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (SUIT) on-board Aditya L1 mission will be observing the sun in near-ultra-violet (NUV) wavelength range (200-400 nm) using 11 spectral filters. One of the main objectives of SUIT is to study Solar Flares in NUV wavelength range, especially from the early phase of the flare. A module of SUIT onboard intelligence, which will monitor the data in real-time along with input signals from X-ray instruments onboard ADITYA-L1, will be used to identify and localize the flares as quickly as possible. In order to test the flare localization algorithm, we used IRIS Mg II slit jaw images, AIA 1600 images and GOES X-ray light curves. Around 50 flares(of class C, M, and X) are selected from the IRIS flare list and their corresponding IRIS Mg II and AIA 1600 data are used to estimate the rate of increase in flare intensity over time. Different tuning parameters of the algorithm are tested using this data set. We also study the light curves in NUV and X-ray for comparing the flare timings. In this work, we present the flare detection and localization module of SUIT, its test results and flare light curve analysis in different wavelength ranges.
