Bangalore, officially known as Bengaluru is the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Karnataka. Bangalore is the third largest city in India and 27th largest city in the world. Bangalore is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the country. Historically a multicultural city, Bangalore has experienced a dramatic social and cultural change with the advent of the liberalization and expansion of the information technology and business process outsourcing industries in India.
Bengaluru is sometimes referred to as the "Silicon Valley of India" (or "IT capital of India") because of its role as the nation's leading information technology (IT) exporter. Indian technological organisations like ISRO, Infosys, Wipro and HAL are headquartered in the city. It has two nationally recognized botanical gardens – Lal Bagh and Cubbon Park.
