Home Page of S.P. Rajaguru

Welcome!. You are visiting my web-pages at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics , where I am currently a Professor. My research work involves observational and theoretical studies of the dynamics of solar as well as stellar near-surface magnetic field, helioseismological studies of large-scale solar interior flows, rotation and their variability, and local helioseismology of sunspots and solar activity. Numerical simulations, involving 3D magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), are also being carried out to model magnetoconvection in the photospheric and atmospheric layers of the Sun and sun-like stars with applications in studies of stellar activity, spectroscopy and exo-planet detections and host-star characterisations.

My Ph.D. thesis, completed in 1999, was on Radiative Transfer and the Dynamics of Small-scale Magnetic Structures on the Sun at the Physics department of the Indian Institute of Science under the Joint Astronomy Programme .
