The Ultra-Violet Imaging Telescope (UVIT) is one of the payloads onboard India's first multiwavelength Astronomy Observatory, AstroSat, launched by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on 28 September 2015. The UVIT project led by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics is the result of a collaboration between the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, the Inter-University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics, Pune, the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, several centres of ISRO and the Canadian Space Agency. The payload was assembled, tested and calibrated at the MGK Menon Center for Space Sciences, CREST, Hoskote of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics. The doors of the twin telescopes of UVIT were opened on 30 November 2015, signalling the start of observations with UVIT that observes simultaneously in the far-ultraviolet (FUV; 1300 - 1800 A), near-ultraviolet (NUV; 2000 - 3000 A) and visual (VIS; 3200 - 5500 A ) channels. Since then, UVIT has been continuously serving both the Indian and International community and also performing as per design specifications with no degradation in sensitivity. However, the NUV channel was lost on 30 March 2018 during one of the routine reset operations. UVIT will be completing its five years of observations on 30 November 2020.

To commemorate this, the Indian Institute of Astrophysics is organizing a three-day virtual meeting on 1 - 3 December 2020. This meeting aims to bring together the users of UVIT to discuss the observations made and the results obtained with UVIT.

Registration closes on 15 November 2020
