Seventh Aluminizing of 2.34M primary mirror of VBT was successfully completed during 4^th to 6^th of November this year. The complete operation requires an extraordinary technical skills and surgical operation kind of care. The Aluminizing is done using a 2.8 M Vacuum coating plant especially designed and built for this purpose. The monolithic primary mirror which was indigenously built at IIA has an optical surface close to λ/20 rms profile and micro roughness better than 25 A requires extraordinary care during complete Aluminizing process. This Primary mirror weighs 3.5 tons. Attached Pictures show different stages of the operation.
