Dr. Tanmoy Samanta is an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru, specializing in solar astronomy. His research explores the dynamic solar atmosphere—particularly the physics of coronal heating, magnetohydrodynamics waves, and solar energetic events—through high-resolution UV/Extreme-UV imaging and spectroscopy.
He collaborates widely with national and international teams, supervises PhD and internship students, and regularly delivers invited talks at global scientific conferences. In addition to research, he actively contributes to academic service through teaching, organizing schools and conferences, reviewing scientific manuscripts, and serving on several institutional and national committees.
