His Research interests are:
(I) Measuring 3 components of the velocity field using MEF
Minimum Energy Fit a velocity inversion technique, which uses vector magnetogram time sequence and induction equation to estimate the velocity of magnetic footpoints motion.
(II) Moving Magnetic Features in sunspot penumbra
Observational study of Moving Magnetic Features such as its origin, velocity, its orientation and many more properties using high-resolution magnetograms, Dopplergrams & continuum images.
(II) High resolution imaging of the Sun in Optical and EUV
Observational study of small scale magnetic features seen in G-band, Ca II H, H_alpha, C IV 1600 A and of course in high resolution magnetic images.
(III) Long term studies of sunspot number and area
Sunspot number and area varies over a period of 11-years. Observational study of long term variations in solar activity.
(IV) Active region filament eruptions and energetic events
Study of pre-eruptive phase symptoms of filament eruptions and triggering mechanisms.

Spectroscopy of the solar corona using ground-based eclipse observations and space-based HINODE/EIS data. The study gives insights on coronal heating and acceleration of solar wind.
Spectroscopic studies of solar prominences - An observational program to study the H-alpha spectra of solar prominences using Kodaikanal Tunnel Telescope and spectrograph which gives useful information on the origin and evolution of CMEs.
Studies of Coronal hole and the Solar EUV Network using SOHO/CDS and SDO/AIA data give information on solar transition region and evolution of the network.
Studies of Chromospheric Network using the archival Kodaikanal Ca K data give the details of interaction of convective scales and magnetic field.
Variation of Ca K line spectra in different solar latitudes using Kodaikanal Tunnel Telescope and spectrograph give information on solar activity, synoptic variations and flux transfer on the solar surface.
Sun as a star and solar-stellar connections are studied using the Kodaikanal Ca K observations and space-based data.

(I) To study the kinematics and structural deformities inside the earth’s crust , several GPS units are installed at IAO-Hanle, Leh, Kodaikanal (IIA-CMMACS).
(II) CO2 monitoring units are installed at IAO-Hanle and recently at CREST, Hoskote (IIA-CMMACS)
(III) Skyradiometer (Prede, Japan) was installed at Hanle (2007) and Merak (2011) to study the aerosol content over the region ( http://atmos2.cr.chiba-u.jp/skynet/hanle/hanle.html)
To study aerosol radiative forcing, high altitude Aerosol Observatory has installed at IAO-Hanle during 2009 (IIA-VSSC-SPL)
