ABOUT SCOPE

Projects.Photo gallery.Contact us.

The institute has had a long tradition of outreach activities by its staff and students over the past decades, largely anchored by the various Outreach Committees in the past. This has now been formalised as the Science Communication, Public Outreach, and Education (SCOPE) Section.

The Section aims to promote astronomy in the public domain, publicise the research work done in the institute, and provide a link between the two. It functions through a few full time staff and a number of domain experts, points of contact, and volunteers from various stakeholder communities of IIA.

SCOPE also collaborates with two large outreach programs of IIA, namely, that of the Hanle Dark Sky Reserve, and the outreach program of the COSMOS-Mysuru project. In addition, field stations of IIA organise a large number of outreach programs in their campuses, and many staff members actively engage in public outreach independently. We aim to provide information on all these on our webpages here.

We welcome inputs and queries on how we can further enhance our public presence. To know more about visiting our campuses, click here.
