Situated 35 km to the northeast of Bangalore, about 5 km off the Old Madras Road near Hosakote town, is the Centre for Research and Education in Science and Technology (CREST), a sprawling 40-acre campus of IIA.
The campus houses the control room for the remote operations of the 2m Himalayan Chandra Telescope (HCT) at the Indian Astronomical Observatory (IAO), Hanle. A range of state-of-the-art Astronomical Instrumentation facilities are also hosted at the CREST campus
MGKM Laboratory houses clean rooms at levels of CLASS-100K, 10K, 1000, 100 and 10 (ISO-9 to ISO-4). These are meant for the assembly and integration of space hardware
The ETF was inaugurated in 2020. A range of thermo-vacuum and vibration tests for qualification of small and medium size space payloads (upto one cubic meter) can be conducted here.
The ITOFF is the first-of-its-kind mirror segment fabrication facility for large telescopes in India. It is designed and built for the manufacturing of TMT primary mirror segments.
