IIA-PU PhD Programme
Minimum Qualification for Admission
Qualifying Degree:
- M.Sc/Integrated M.Sc (Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, Applied Mathematics, Astronomy, Electronics, Photonics, Optics)
OR - M.E./M.Tech and Integrated M.E/M.Tech (Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Photonics, Optics, Opto-Electronics, Radio Physics & Electronics)
A minimum of 60% marks throughout the academic career. Post-graduation degree should be from an UGC recognized college/University.
- Applicants should have a valid CSIR/UGC-NET (JRF) score in Physics at the time of admission.
-OR- - Applicants should have a valid GATE score of above 95 percentile at the time of admission.
-OR- - Applicants should have a valid JEST score of above 95 percentile at the time of admission
Age Limit: 28 years at the time of admission.
IIA-CU Integrated M.Tech-PhD
Minimum Qualification for Admission
Qualifying Degree:
- M.Sc/Integrated M.Sc (Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, Applied Mathematics, Electronics)
OR - B.E./B.Tech (Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Optics & Opto-Electronics, Radio Physics & Electronics)

IIA-AcSIR Ph.D
Minimum Qualification for Admission
- General/EWS: MSc (Physics), 55% Marks and National-level fellowship (CSIR-UGC-NET, INSPIRE) or JEST/GATE qualified with above 95 percentile.
- SC, ST : MSc (Physics), 50% Marks and National-level fellowship (CSIR-UGC-NET, INSPIRE) or JEST/GATE qualified with above 95 percentile.
- OBC : MSc (Physics), 50% Marks and National-level fellowship (CSIR-UGC-NET, INSPIRE) or JEST/GATE qualified with above 95 percentile.
Selected candidates with valid JEST or GATE scores with above 95 percentile will be offered the IIA Fellowship.
Admission Process
Online application is mandatory for the IIA-PU PhD, IIA-AcSIR PhD and IIA-CU applicants. Final selection will be made based on an in-person (OFFLINE) interview to be held at IIA, Koramangala, Bengaluru.
