Why be an IIA intern?

If you are thinking of entering the world of Astronomy & Astrophysics, an internship at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) could be the ideal start for you. The objective of the internship is to give you a first-hand impression of the research happening at IIA. You will be given a real chance to work with IIA scientists. You will also have a chance to interact with eminent national and international visitors of IIA.

Who can Apply?

  1. Students in the final year of B.E/B.Tech/M.Sc/M. Tech and want to undertake final year project work towards partially fulfilling their degree course.
  2. Students holding a B.E/B.Tech/B.Sc/M.Sc/M. Tech degree and want to undertake a short-term project at IIA (three- to twelve-months)
  3. Students pursuing Ph. D. at other Institutions/universities/Colleges and want to visit IIA for collaborative work with any IIA faculty (for a maximum period of six months)
  4. Students submitted their Ph.D thesis and awaiting thesis defense (for a maximum period of six months)

How to apply

You can contact any faculty members of IIA Click Here whose research interests align with yours. Attach your CV and a write-up in the format as given below.

  1. Why do you want an internship opportunity at IIA? (in less than 100 words)
  2. Why are you interested in the research topic(s)?
  3. In a short paragraph explain on any one of the research papers of the faculty member whom you want to work with and explain briefly the main aim, methodology used and some of the results that you found interesting (in less than 250 words).   4. If offered, do you require a stipend.
