The Education and outreach team of COSMOS has been constantly reaching out to the rural parts of the Mysuru District to spread awareness of Astronomy, Astrophysics and Space science related topics. Astronomy education and outreach in rural areas play a crucial role in promoting educational equity, inspiring curiosity and exploration, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting lifelong learning.
The Education and Outreach programs in Rural areas are carried out in two types.
- For audiences of specific age groups
- General Public
As of now, the events carried out in Rural Schools and Colleges cover Category A and those carried out in Rural Libraries and Community spaces cover Category B. The outreach team also visits public places like Camps, Cafes, etc. We are looking to establish a sustained effort to create interest in astronomy followed by engagements.
