VISITING THE HEADQUARTERS

The Indian Institute of Astrophysics is a premier institute devoted to research in astronomy, astrophysics and related physics. The headquarters was shifted to Bengaluru into its present campus in Koramangala in 1975. Today, funded by the Department of Science and Technology, the Institute ranks as a premier institution devoted to research and education of astronomy and physics in the country.

About the Visit

  • Submit this form at least 15 days before your preferred date of visit.
  • If you are planning to visit as a group or as an individual, then you are requested to choose one of the following timeslots:
    • Forenoon (9:30 AM to 12:30 PM), or
    • Afternoon (1:30 PM to 4:00 PM)
  • We can accommodate not more than 100 visitors (students and staff included) in a single visit.
  • The visit will include a short presentation about IIA and its facilities, followed by a sunspot viewing (subject to clear skies), and a short talk on UVIT Telescope.
  • If the total number of visitors is less than 40, then there will be an additional visit to the Optics Lab as well.
  • You will be guided by a coordinator and are to not visit any others areas than the ones demarcated for the visit by the coordinator.
  • Lunch will not be provided to the visitors. However, if you bring your own food, space will be provided for the same.
  • IIA will not be responsible for your personal belongings while you are present at the campus for the visit.
  • You are requested to follow all procedures and disciplines of the institute.
