Research Interest (s) : Observational stellar spectroscopy and chemical tagging of stars to understand stellar and Galactic evolution. Research topics include: (a) abundance studies of highly evolved stars of AGB and Post-AGB, (b) Abundance anomalies in stars such as Li in red giants and their evolution, (c) nature of planet-bearing stars, and (d) studies of formation and evolution of the Galaxy by chemical tagging of long-lived main sequence dwarfs. Some of the key results include a) showing a correlation between ratio [hs/ls] (heavy s-process to light s-process) with metallicity among post-AGB stars., b) demonstrating Li excess is ubiquitous among red clump giants and providing evidence that the Li excess origin lies in the short-lived He-flashing phase (Left figure where most of the super Li-rich giants are very young), c) showing Galactic thin (black symbols) - and thick disk (red symbols) components are chemically distinct based on the abundances of dwarfs in the solar neighbourhood (right Fig). Also, I have been serving India TMT Coordination Centre (India TMT) as its programme Director since 2014.
