Time domain astronomy, Active galactic nuclei, accretion disk, relativistic jets, outflows

Research Interest (s) : My research focusses on processes happening close to supermassive black holes that power active galactic nuclei (AGN) with emphasis on accretion disk, relativistic jets and outflows. For this I use data from gamma-rays, X-ray, UV, optical and radio bands. My research depends highly upon data from telescopes such as NuSTAR, Fermi, Swift, AstroSat and various ground based telescopes. By combining data from variety of instruments along with spectral and timing analysis, I focus on understanding process that happen close to the central regions of AGN. My current research interests are on (i) X-ray corona, (ii) Spectral energy distribution modelling, (iii) reverberation mapping and (iv) narrow line Seyfert 1 galaxies. I am closely involved in the activities of the Ultra Violet Imaging Telescope (UVIT), a payload on-board AstroSat India's first multi-wavelength astronomical space observatory. I lead the UVIT-Payload Operations Center at IIA, tasked with the responsibility of processing level 1 data from UVIT to science ready images for archival and dissemination to the proposers through the Indian Space Science Data Center (ISSDC). I am involved in activities related to the science with the upcoming mission XpoSat and also a member of the science working group on both AstroSat and XpoSat.
