CMEs, Solar Wind, Space Weather, and Solar-type Stars

Research Interest (s) : My work is on the kinematic and thermodynamic evolution of coronal mass ejections (CMEs). Currently, I am investigating the expansion behavior of ICMEs, their charge states, and abundances in the heliosphere in contrast to the non-ICME solar wind. I am interested in improving the arrival time prediction of the CMEs at the Earth using state-of-the-art techniques on the observations in conjunction with models. My interests also include studying long-term variations in the different proxies of solar activity and their effects on our geospace. Extending my recent work on mass loss from the Sun due to solar wind and CMEs, I plan to work on the mass loss from other solar-type stars to understand the stellar evolution and habitability of planets around them. Currently, I am in the science team of the Aditya-L1 solar mission and plan to extensively work on the imaging and in-situ observations from this mission to derive scientific results. In the long run, I aim to establish a Space Weather Research Center (SWRC) that can provide updates on the varying conditions on the Sun, interplanetary space, and our Earth.
