Call for Applications/Nominations for Appointment to the post of Director, IIA Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bengaluru, an autonomous grant-in-aid institution of Department of Science and Technology, Government of India invites applications from highly motivated professionals, who are Indian nationals, for the position of Director. Those who are dynamic leader with substantial experience and achievements in the area of Astronomy & Astrophysics and with a clear vision for an established Institution dedicated to this field of research in the country may apply for the post.
Applications received in response to this advertisement as well as nominations received from eminent fellows of prestigious national science and engineering academies, Directors of national R&D laboratories and Vice-Chancellors of universities will be considered by a Search-cumSelection Committee. Based on the recommendations of the Search-cum-Selection Committee, the Director will be appointed after obtaining the approval of the Competent Authority.
The incumbent will be appointed on Direct Recruitment/Deputation including contract/Re-employment basis for a period of 3 to 5 years or on attaining the age of superannuation (60 years at present), whichever is earlier.
Pay scale: Pay Level 15 HAG Scale (Rs. 1,82,200- 2,24,100) plus admissible allowances as per 7th CPC.
The applicant's age should not exceed 56 years on 01/01/2024.

Shortlisted candidates
Applications are invited from highly motivated students for full-time research program (starting in August 2024) conducted at Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) with Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR). The selected candidates will work at IIA with one of it's faculties and the Ph.D. degree will be awarded by the AcSIR.
Admissions for the year 2024 (August) - The Indian Institute of Astrophysics is a DST-funded, research institute, devoted to research in astronomy, astrophysics and related areas of physics. The main campus is located in Koramangala, Bangalore. Additionally, the institute also has various field centres, including the Centre for Research and Education in Science and Technology (CREST) at Hosakote, Bangalore, and the observing facilities at Gauribidanur, Hanle, Kavalur and Kodaikanal.
IIA conducts two Ph.D. programmes, (a) IIA-PU Ph.D. Programme and (b) IIA-CU Integrated M.Tech - Ph.D. (Tech.) Programme in Astronomical Instrumentation .
