The Bangalore campus of the Indian Insitiute of Astrophysics is situated in 2nd Block, Koramangala, Bangalore-560 034, at the junction of the 17th Main Road and Sarjapur Road.
Most of the Academic/Research staff offices are in the main campus of the Institute. The campus has an extensive library, and a data center. Various engineering facilities and laboratories are actively involved in instrument development programmes for Astronomy and related fields. The project Office of the India-TMT coordination Center (ITCC) and the UVIT Payload Operations Centre are also located in the Bangalore campus.
IIA has one of the oldest yet modern astronomical libraries in the world. It was set up in 1899 at Kodaikanal, and later most of the collections were moved to Bangalore
IIA Library maintains the archives as well. The earliest handwritten manuscript in the collection is the Madras Observatory Annual report from 1792.
Optical Fabrication facilities at IIA dates back to 1964. Today the division specializes in design and construction of a range of astronomical instruments.
The division specializes in the design, simulation, development and testing of electronic sub-systems for ground and space based observatories.
This division consists of multiple teams ranging from HPC management to servers administration, IT/computing support and Web development.
This division takes care of any manufacturing, fabrication or servicing requirements of the institute. The workshop is well equipped with state of the art machinery
The Electrical Division ensures 24x7 uninterrupted power supply to all the critical infrastructures such as the datacenter, network and various laboratories.
The Civil Engineering Section takes care of construction, repair and maintenance of Institute facilities.
