SUMMER PROGRAMMES - 2009

Project Student Programme

The Project Student Programme will be conducted during 13 May - 15 July 2009. The programme includes one week (15 - 22 May) introductory lectures at VBO, Kavalur, and a project to be completed under the supervision of scientists at IIA. Second class train/bus fare for shortest route/accommodation/shared and per diem allowance will be provided to the selected outstation candidates.

School in Astronomy and Astrophysics

The School in Astronomy and Astrophysics will be conducted during 15 May - 22 May 2009 in Vainu Bappu Observatory, Kavalur. The school will focus on the Stellar astronomy with evening sessions on observational astronomy. Second class train/bus fare for shortest route will be reimbursed to outstation candidates producing original tickets, Boarding and accommodation/shared will be provided to the selected candidates.

The School in Physics will be conducted during 8 June - 20 June 2009 in Kodaikanal Observatory, IIA, Kodaikanal. The school will focus on Astrophysics. Second class train/bus fare for shortest route will be reimbursed to outstation candidates, boarding and accommodation/shared will be provided to the selected candidates.

Eligibility

Project Student Programme & School in Astronomy and Astrophysics

Students currently enrolled for M.Sc. (Physics, Mathematics) / B.E., B.Tech. in Electrical/ Instrumentation/ Electronics and Communications /Computer Science and Engineering from an institution recognized by AICTE and entering their final year are eligible to apply.

School in Physics

Students entering into the final year of B.Sc. (Physics/Mathematics), B.E. / B.Tech. , as well as those students who are entering the final year of M.Sc.(Physics/Mathematics) are eligible to apply .
