- Spectro-temporal signatures of accretion flows around Galactic Black Holes
- Research Interest
I work on the area of X-ray Astronomy with focus on Black Hole Binaries (BHBs). These sources are exciting as they go through outburst phases during which their X-ray flux remains high for several months. The timing, spectral and imaging studies of several BHBs have been carried out using data from space based observatories like RXTE, Swift, NuSTAR, MAXI and AstroSat. Data Analysis, modelling and interpretation of results are used to understand accretion state classification as well as the estimation of mass and spin of the black holes. I have worked on both low frequency and high frequency quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) observed in BHBs in order to infer the reason for their origin. Besides this I am also interested in Machine Learning applications in X-ray Astronomy.
